RockAcad Wins Online Music Lessons Award From UK Prime Minister

Things have been very busy here at RockAacd HQ. Just last month we were recognised by the UK Prime Minister and received a ‘Points of Light’ award from him, for our FREE online music lessons offer to key workers and their families during the pandemic.

In a handwritten letter to our Founder/Director David Green, Boris Johnson said; “Thank you for all that you are doing to bring the gift of music to key workers and their children. Among the many challenges we have faced in this battle against Coronavirus, few compare with the enormity of so rapidly reinventing education online. Through ‘RockAcad’ you are making music lessons free and available to those who are working so hard to keep our nation going”. David said, “We are very honoured and delighted to receive this online music lessons award, and be recognised in helping a cause which continues to highlight the great efforts the key workers are doing at the moment… They are the real award winners!

New Guitar Teacher Pete Friesen of Alice Cooper, Bruce Dickinson & More Joins RockAcad

In other exciting news we would like to welcome our newest recruit, Pete Friesen to the RockAcad teaching line up! Pete is an extremely well known guitarist and accomplished teacher, playing for Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, The Almighty and even appearing alongside Alice Cooper in the Paramount US comedy movie ‘Wayne’s World’. Pete also has many years of teaching experience and since 2000 has been a tutor at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. He has recorded production music for London based company ‘Brilliant Music’, with tracks being used in television and film all over the world. In 2014 Pete played guitar in the Ray Davies/Kinks musical “Sunny Afternoon”. It ran for two years in London’s West End at prestigious venues such as the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. An original cast recording of the show, which was produced by Ray Davies, was released on Sony music.
